Cove Crown
A single smooth concave curve: the quietest, most adaptable crown.

What it looks like
The face is one hollow. No steps, no blocks, no carved repeat. Light rakes across it as a single shadow.
Where it belongs
Bedrooms, halls, and houses that are not trying to be a particular century. It also works as a bed under a larger cornice.
Size
Height is the face down the wall. Projection is how far the stick stands off the wall. Match both to the ceiling, and outdoors to the eave. The ranges are on the crown size guide.
Corners
Inside corners can be two miters or a cope. Outside corners are miters. Dentil and carved repeats have to land on the joint. See crown corners and coping.
Casing and base
Pair it with simple casing and a flat or lightly molded base. A carved casing next to a plain cove looks like two jobs.
