Crown with Flat Base
A curved crown over a flat band, so it reads taller on the wall without a site-built stack.

What it looks like
The flat band is the part you see first from across the room. The curve sits above it, at the ceiling.
Where it belongs
High ceilings, foyers, and exterior cornices that need face height more than they need carving.
Size
Height is the face down the wall. Projection is how far the stick stands off the wall. Match both to the ceiling, and outdoors to the eave. The ranges are on the crown size guide.
Corners
Inside corners can be two miters or a cope. Outside corners are miters. Dentil and carved repeats have to land on the joint. See crown corners and coping.
Casing and base
The flat band already does the work of a separate fascia. Casing can stay simpler than the crown.
