Concrete-finish crown

Concrete-finish crown is the same urethane geometry with a cast concrete texture, made for stucco, masonry, and exteriors that should not look like painted wood.

Best for
Stucco houses, commercial facades, and cornices over stone or brick.
Scale
From mid-size (about 6 in) to very large (16 in and more).

Smooth primed crown disappears on a textured stucco wall, or it looks like wood trim someone forgot to detail. Concrete finish is Spectis’s cast texture for that wall. The SKUs carry a CF suffix. MD1643CF is 6 inches by 6 1/8 inches. MD1642CF is a heavy cornice at 19 inches of projection and 16 inches of height.

The body is still high-density polyurethane, so it will not rot the way a wood cornice does against stucco, and it will not rust the way a poorly flashed metal cornice can. It is lighter than cast stone of the same size, which is why a 16-inch profile is practical to hang.

Leave the texture visible. A heavy smooth paint film fills the pits and wastes the point of the finish. Use a masonry-style coating if the wall color has to change, and keep sealant joints at the wall and the soffit so water does not sit in the bedding.

Fossil stone is the other textured exterior option. Concrete finish reads as board-formed or cast concrete. Fossil stone reads as cut limestone. Pick the one that matches the cladding, not the one that is merely “textured.”

Questions about concrete-finish crown

Can concrete-finish crown go indoors?

It can, in a room that is supposed to feel like cast concrete. Most interior paint-grade work should use a smooth primed crown instead.
